This four-day festival is dedicated to the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, expressing gratitude for sustaining life on earth and seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and well-being. Devotees observe strict fasting, offering Arghya (prayers) to the setting and rising sun, symbolizing the powerful connection between nature and humankind.

छठ पूजा विशेष रूप से बिहार और उत्तर प्रदेश में गहरी सांस्कृतिक और आध्यात्मिक महत्ता रखती है, जहाँ इसे बहुत ही श्रद्धा और भक्ति के साथ मनाया जाता है। यह चार दिवसीय पर्व सूर्य देव और छठी मइया को समर्पित है, जिसमें पृथ्वी पर जीवन के संरक्षण के लिए आभार व्यक्त किया जाता है और स्वास्थ्य, समृद्धि और कल्याण के आशीर्वाद की कामना की जाती है। भक्तगण कठिन उपवास करते हैं और अस्त और उदय होते सूर्य को अर्घ्य अर्पित करते हैं, जो प्रकृति और मानवता के बीच के गहरे संबंध का प्रतीक है।
